Over a span of 25 years, the Bureau of Labor Statistics documented 815 fatalities and more than 70,000 instances of severe injuries due to heat-related illnesses. These numbers, already substantial, likely underestimate the true figures. Despite this underreporting, the prevalence of heat-related illnesses among workers is concerning. Fortunately, with improved access to information and resources, the risk of heat illness can be significantly diminished.To help get the message out, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announced the Beat the Heat National Contest to:

• Educate stakeholders, especially workers and employers, about heat hazards in the workplace.
• Prevent heat illness by creating an awareness campaign that increases the public's knowledge about this issue.
• Highlight the dangers of heat
• Motivate employers and workers to take action to prevent heat illness.
