An AI Event Website Is Not a Branded Event App

An AI Event Website Is Not a Branded Event App
- Lovable's event page is a landing page you describe in chat, including a schedule and a registration form. It is not an app in the stores.
- Replit's event-app builder says it can generate a web app in minutes, and its FAQ says native App Store and Google Play publishing is not included.
- Guidebook is a no-code event platform. Guidebook Web is a website version of the app, not a prompt that writes a marketing site.
- A branded app, your name in the stores, sits on the plan you buy. Small Event caps at 200 attendees.
- Guidebook's AI for schedules is a separate import tool. It does not turn a prompt into the event website.
Someone on the team can describe the event in a chat box and get a page back before lunch. That is a real shortcut. It is not the thing attendees open when a room changes at 8 a.m.
Lovable and Replit build software from a prompt. Guidebook is the event product you publish for the people in the room. This guide is the difference, using what each company says on its own site.
Three different objects
| What you asked for | What you get | Who runs it the morning of |
|---|---|---|
| A page that explains the event and collects a signup | An AI-built landing page | Whoever maintains that project |
| A custom web app generated from a prompt | Code, a database, and a link | Whoever owns the repo and the hosting |
| A branded event app, with a website version of that app | A no-code event platform | The event team, on the plan they bought |
A prompt can produce the first two. It does not become the third because the schedule was pasted into the chat.
What Lovable's event page says
Lovable's event landing-page page says you define the event and the audience, it generates a designed page, you customize branding, the event schedule, and registration forms, then you publish. It says most projects take minutes to hours. Building spends credits. The same site describes Lovable as an AI software engineer for websites and web apps, with GitHub sync and a database connector.
That is a landing page, and it can grow into a web app you keep in a repository. It is the right tool when the job is a campaign page, a prototype for a stakeholder, or a form you are testing this week.
It is the wrong tool when attendees need your name on an icon they already installed, a map that still opens when the venue network drops, or a badge QR your staff scan at the door. Lovable's event page does not describe those.
What Replit's event-app builder says
Replit's event app builder says you can describe an event app in plain language and it generates one. The conference prompt on that page includes a personalized agenda, speaker Q&A, session recommendations, and a sponsor showcase. The FAQ says the agent can wire up registration, a calendar, sponsors, and payments through Stripe or PayPal. It also says you can deploy to Replit's hosting and attach a custom domain.
Two lines on that FAQ decide the purchase:
- Replit produces web apps. Native publishing to the Apple App Store or Google Play is not provided. Store distribution needs a packaging workflow outside Replit.
- It is not a traditional no-code builder. The agent writes the app, and the logic stays code.
That is a fair trade when a developer, or a determined operator, will own the project after the prompt. It is a poor trade when the person who changes the room is an orientation coordinator who does not want a repository.
What Guidebook is for instead
Guidebook is a no-code event app. Staff drag, drop, and publish. Updates go out from the desktop or the phone, without waiting on a developer. The event management platform calls Guidebook Web a website version of that app. Registration, check-in, badges, maps, and live updates sit with it. Those pieces are listed on features. You are not stitching a generated page to a spreadsheet and a printer.
Plans say there are no hidden fees. Small Event caps at 200 attendees. Event, Year-Round, and Unlimited have no attendee cap, and those three include a dedicated account manager. A branded app, your name in the stores, belongs on the plan you buy. Do not assume the stores listing, the website, and badges are on every tier until the quote names them.
Guidebook does not build the site from a chat prompt. The one AI feature to know about is schedule import, already explained in AI event schedule import. Use that post for the how-to. This one is only the boundary: a prompt that writes a website is not the import, and the import is not Lovable.
Offline maps are a separate, documented behavior. Static floor-plan images work offline. On Engage, a session can link to a region on that image, and that interactive map works without a connection. A generated web page does not make that promise unless the person who built it built it.
Badges stay a print path. The badge page is a file, an order, your own printer, or an Expo Pass partnership. A landing page does not print them.
When the AI builder is the right call
Use Lovable or Replit when:
- You need a public page this week, and the event itself is a simple signup.
- You are prototyping an idea a developer will rebuild.
- You have someone who will host, patch, and answer for the app after the prompt is done.
Use a branded event app when:
- Attendees need the schedule and the map on event day, including when the network drops.
- The person who updates the room is not a developer.
- The icon in the stores, the check-in QR, and the plan name on the invoice have to be the same product.
A conference of that shape is the conference app. A self-guided campus visit is campus tours. A one-page invitation is neither.
What to do this month
If the job is a landing page, build it in the tool your team will still open in March. If the job is the attendee app, start with Best Event Apps, then Guidebook's plans or book a demo and bring the schedule. Keep the prompt for the page. Do not ask it to be the door.
Frequently asked questions
[faq]
Q: Can Lovable replace an event app?
A: It can replace the landing page. Lovable's event page generates a designed page with a schedule and registration forms. It does not describe a branded app in the stores, offline maps, or badge check-in.
Q: Can Replit publish an event app to the App Store?
A: Not by itself. Replit's FAQ says the builder produces web apps, and native App Store or Google Play publishing is not provided.
Q: Does Guidebook generate the event website with AI?
A: No. Guidebook Web is a website version of the event app your team publishes. The AI feature in market is schedule import, covered on its own page.
Q: Is a generated app cheaper?
A: The prompt can be. The year of hosting, fixes, and the person who has to ship a room change is the rest of the cost. Compare that with a published plan, not with the first afternoon.
