Welcome to Guidebook’s Employee Spotlights! In this series, you’ll meet the awesome team members who work behind the scenes to make it possible for us to provide Guidebook apps for events, conferences, campuses, and more. Our latest spotlight features Jenny Kim, Guidebook’s Office and Benefits Manager. Jenny grew up in the Los Angeles area and now works in our San Francisco office!

How long have you worked at Guidebook?

I’ve been working at Guidebook for a little over 2 and a half years!

What does your role as Office and Benefits Manager entail?

I think my role is divided into 3 parts right now. As the Office Manager, I try to make sure Guidebookers are happy and that our work environment is nice! As the Benefits Manager, I oversee our open enrollment process and am the primary contact for benefits-related questions. The last bit of my role is generally supporting the HR team and helping with various projects (like our annual company retreat).

What is your favorite Guidebook memory?

The most memorable event probably has to be our recent Guidetrip to Yosemite. I had a great time being able to bond with other Guidebookers! One memory that always makes me smile is probably when I was trying to send my colleague Ayana some photos of Ella (another colleague’s dog), but I accidentally sent all 10 photos to our #general Slack channel instead. Our entire company saw the photos! It was a bit embarrassing but then other people started sharing their photos of dogs and it just became a bunch of photos of dogs. It was cute! :)

What do you like to do outside of work?

I have two dogs, Mochi and Jiro, so I love spending time with them. I also enjoy going on dates with my husband, Chris, and I love crafting! 

What is the best vacation you’ve been on?

The best vacations I’ve been on are our trips to Japan. We go every year and there are always new places and things to explore! We spend most of our time eating, shopping, and walking (a lot). Even though we go there so often, I love going back because I’m guaranteed to have an amazing time!

Finally, you can only have three mobile apps on your phone (besides Guidebook, of course). What three apps would you choose?

1. Instagram - I don’t think I can live without it!
2. Animal Crossing - I’m level 163 and I’ve invested too much of my time into it to give it up now.
3. Pokemon Go - I get some exercise and it's one of the things Chris and I like to do together!
