Mobile Apps for Associations: New Study Shows 55% Will Use Mobile Apps in 2013
New research into mobile apps for associations
Consulting firm One Orange Feather just came out with an interesting study about how associations use mobile apps. They surveyed hundreds of associations and most of the prominent app makers in the industry (including Guidebook) during the course of their research. Mobile apps for associations tend to be used for meetings and conventions, the study found. And, impressively, associations were able to sell sponsorships in their apps for an average of $10,000 to $20,000. This far exceeds the average price of creating an app, which means that an app doesn’t just have to be an added expense that an association pays to make its convention attendees happier – it can be a revenue generator!Budgets tripling for 2013
Also, according to One Orange Feather’s study, mobile adoption rates among associations are expected to nearly triple in 2013. Although only 22% of associations currently use mobile apps, 55% of associations plan to budget for mobile development expenses next year. Association size is one of the key factors in determining mobile adoption rates. For instance, more than half of large associations with budgets exceeding $100 million have mobile apps, compared to just one-third of mid-size associations with budgets between $5 and $100 million, and fewer than 10% of small associations with budgets under $5 million.Learn more about association app use
