Back at IMEX: Optimism, Overwhelm, and Powerful Simplicity

After a few years away, stepping back onto the IMEX show floor in Las Vegas this October felt electric. The energy was unmistakable; the events industry is alive.

There was a real sense of confidence and optimism everywhere you looked. People were talking about growth, connection, and the future. It’s clear that the appetite for in-person experiences hasn’t just returned. It’s stronger than ever.

I think some of that is due to AI, growing disconnect, and the need for more human connection., And some of it is also down to events being one of the most powerful marketing, learning and networking tools there is!

But beneath that optimism, I also noticed something else: overwhelm.

Overwhelm Is the Industry’s Biggest Threat & Opportunity

As always, the event tech section was packed and if I’m honest, a little chaotic. Event organizers I spoke to shared a common sentiment: they’re tired.

Tired of overly complex tools.
Tired of platforms claiming to do everything but not doing anything well.
Tired of feeling like they need a degree in software integration to run a great event.

That fatigue is exactly why our message of Powerful Simplicity resonated so strongly at the booth. It’s what we’ve always stood for- building tools that actually make life easier for planners, not harder.

We need to get out of the way of event planners, be the tools that give them more time so they can focus on the event itself.

Our Focus: Owning the Attendee Experience

The industry is finally admitting what we’ve believed all along: you can’t fake an all-in-one solution.

Real success starts with understanding where the attendee lives — and that’s on mobile.

At Guidebook, mobile has always been our DNA. Everything we build, from our new Registration platform to our badging capabilities, is designed to enhance the on-site experience. Because that’s where the magic happens.

During our four days at IMEX, I used my phone for nearly everything. So did Stewart and Eric. And it reminded me how natural that is for attendees, too.

Registration should be the start of a seamless journey, not a separate system. That’s exactly why we built ours: to simplify workflows, save planners time, and give attendees a beautifully connected experience from start to finish.

Unlimited Guides: Budgets are tight. Experiences shouldn’t be.

One of the highlights of our conversations this year was seeing how strongly people responded to our Unlimited Guides pricing.

As budgets shrink and planners are asked to do more with less, flexibility matters. With Unlimited Guides, our customers can create as many event apps as they need, without worrying about pricing per event.

That shift gives organizers real freedom to innovate, experiment, and deliver consistent value across all their events. It’s one of the best things we’ve done this year, and IMEX proved that the market agrees.

A World Premiere (and a Toast to the Future)

IMEX also marked a milestone moment for us: the world premiere of Guidebook Registration.

We unveiled it live at our booth with a glass of champagne and some well-deserved excitement. Seeing planners’ faces as they realized how simple registration could be, without sacrificing power was the best validation we could ask for.

We capped off the day with something equally special: our Real Talk Dinner at KUMI. No presentations, no pitches, just really good conversation. We gathered 20 event leaders to share challenges, predictions, and perspectives over incredible food and sake.

The themes that emerged were clear: budgets are tight, time is limited, and technology needs to help, not hinder. That’s exactly the space Guidebook is built to fill.

Looking Ahead

I left Vegas more confident than ever. The industry has hope, but this time it feels grounded. Event professionals are focused on what really matters, creating memorable experiences that bring people together.

And as we head into 2026, that’s exactly where Guidebook will keep its focus too: building tools that empower planners and elevate the attendee experience through powerful simplicity.

The future feels bright and after IMEX, I can say with confidence: we’re ready to lead it.
